PETER NARVAEZ MEMORIAL STUDENT PAPER PRIZE 2019 (IASPM)

Students presenting papers at this year's IASPM-Canada conference are invited to submit their work to be considered for our prize for Best Student Paper, the PETER NARVAEZ MEMORIAL STUDENT PAPER PRIZE 2019. A prize will be awarded for the best paper in French by a student, and also for the best paper in English by a student. Both prizes are $200. The winners will be recognized during the Annual General Meeting at the conference.

Papers should be submitted electronically to steven.baur@dal.ca by May 15, 2018. Supporting materials such as PowerPoint slides may be included.

STUDENT CONFERENCE PAPER PRIZE (CSTM)

The CSTM’s Student Conference Paper Prizes are awarded annually for the best student paper in English and the best student paper in French presented at the Society’s annual meeting.The 2019 prize competition will be held at the CSTM Annual Meeting, Legacies and Prospects: Pasts and Futures in Music taking place in Montreal, QC from May 24^th – 26^th, 2019.

The submission deadline for this competition is Friday, May 31^st, 2019.

The CSTM invites student members to submit an electronic version of their conference paper to the Chair of the CSTM Student Paper Prize, Dr. Anna Hoefnagels (anna_hoefnagels@carleton.ca), for consideration by the adjudication committee (see guidelines). The prize winner will be invited to submit their papers for consideration for publication in MUSICultures. The value of each award is $100.

Submission eligibility and guidelines:

Students interested in submitting their paper for consideration must (1) be registered, full-time students at the time of abstract submission (in the case of PhD students, they should not have already defended their dissertations), (2) be members of CSTM at the time of the annual meeting, and (3) have presented their paper at the 2019 CSTM annual meeting.

Papers must be submitted as email attachments in Word or PDF format. The student’s name, email address, and university affiliation should appear in the email body but not on the paper, as submissions will be reviewed blind. Papers should include only the paper’s title, text, and essential supporting materials (e.g., recordings, images, figures, PowerPoint presentations). Non-text elements should be referenced explicitly in the text and contribute fundamentally to the thesis of the paper. Papers should be submitted unmodified, with the exception of minor editing for spelling and grammar, as they were presented at the conference.

Conference papers will be judged based on criteria such as: originality, clarity and style, theoretical engagement, and strength of argument.

The CSTM’s Student Conference Paper Prizes are administered and partially funded by the CSTM. The Society gratefully acknowledges the generous donations that assist in making these prizes possible. IASPM-CANADA BOOK PRIZE

The International Association for the Study of Popular Music-Canada Branch (IASPM-Canada) requests nominations for the IASPM-Canada Book Prize, which recognizes a member (or members) whose published monograph makes a substantial contribution to the field of popular music studies, has been written by a Canadian author, or published by a Canadian-based press, or that deals substantially with Canadian subject matter. Nominated books must have been published in 2017 or 2018.

Any member in good standing of IASPM-Canada may nominate a book; committee members may nominate books, association members may nominate their own books, and we encourage publishers to suggest books for consideration, but only IASPM-Canada members in good standing may submit nominations to the committee.

The deadline for nominations is March 1, 2019. Nominations should include the author’s name, book title, and publisher’s information. Nominations should be sent electronically to Steven Baur (steven.baur@dal.ca). The award committee will announce the winner at the 2019 IASPM-Canada meeting in Montreal (May 24-26).

Deux prix seront remis : un pour la meilleure communication en français et un pour la meilleure communication en anglais. Chaque prix a une valeur de 200$. Les noms des lauréats seront annoncés au moment de l'Assemblée générale lors du colloque. <h1>PRIX POUR LES COMMUNICATIONS ÉTUDIANTES (SCTM) </h1>Les prix pour les communications étudiantes de la SCTM sont remis une fois par an, au cours de l’assemblée
générale annuelle de la Société, à la meilleure communication en anglais et la
meilleure communication en français par une personne étudiante.

Le concours pour les prix de 2019 se
tiendra à l’assemblée annuelle de la SCTM, Héritages et
perspectives d’avenir : les passés et futurs en musique, qui aura lieu à Montréal, QC, du 24 au 26 mai 2019.

La date limite de soumission pour ce concours est
le vendredi 31 mai 2019.

La SCTM invite les adhérents étudiants à
soumettre une version électronique de leur communication à la présidente du
comité d’adjudication, Dr. Anna
Hoefnagels (<a href="mailto:anna_hoefnagels@carleton.ca">anna_hoefnagels@carleton.ca</a>). Les
lauréats seront invités à soumettre leur communication à MUSICultures en
vue d’être considérés pour la publication. La valeur de chacun des prix est de
100 $.

Soumission, éligibilité et lignes
directrices :

Les étudiants intéressés à soumettre leur
communication doivent (1) être inscrits dans une université à temps plein au
moment de la soumission du résumé (dans le cas des doctorants, ils ne doivent
pas avoir encore soutenu leur thèse), (2) être adhérents à la SCTM au moment de
l’assemblée annuelle et (3) avoir présenté leur communication à l’assemblée
annuelle de la SCTM 2019.

Les articles doivent être soumis en format
Word ou PDF en pièce jointe à un courriel. Le nom de l’étudiant, son adresse
électronique et l’affiliation universitaire doivent figurer dans le corps du
courriel mais nonsur l’article en tant que tel étant donné
que les soumissions seront examinées de manière anonyme. Les articles doivent
inclure uniquement le titre de l’article, le texte et le matériel
d’accompagnement (enregistrements, images, figures, diaporama électronique
etc.) Les éléments non textuels devront être référencés explicitement dans le texte
et contribuer de manière essentielle à la thèse de l’article. Enfin, les
articles devront être soumis sans modification par rapport à la communication
lors du congrès, à l’exception de petites révisions orthographiques et
grammaticales.

Les critères de sélection des
communications seront les suivants : originalité, clarté et style,
engagement théorique et force de l’argument.

Les prix pour les communications
d’étudiant sont administrés et partiellement financés par la SCTM. La Société
est reconnaissante des dons généreux qui rendent ces prix possibles. Si vous
êtes intéressés à contribuer à ces fonds, la SCTM vous émettra avec plaisir un

<hr> <h1>PRIX DU LIVRE IASPM-CANADA</h1> Le chapitre canadien de l'Association internationale des études en 
musique populaire (IASPM-Canada) lance son appel à nominations pour la 
meilleure monographie portant en tout ou majoritairement sur la musique 
populaire, ou qui traite de façon importante d’un sujet canadien. Les 
recueils d'articles ne sont pas éligibles. L’ouvrage doit également 
avoir été écrit par un auteur canadien ou une auteure canadienne, ou 
doit avoir été publié par un éditeur canadien. Les ouvrages en 
nomination pour le Prix du livre IASPM-Canada doivent avoir été publiés 
en 2017 ou 2018. Tous les membres en règles de l'IASPM-Canada, 
incluant les membres du comité, ont jusqu'au 1er mars 2019 pour mettre en nomination un ouvrage.
 Les membres de l'association peuvent mettre en nomination leur propre 
ouvrage. L’association encourage également les éditeurs à suggérer des 
titres pour considération, mais seuls les membres en règle peuvent 
proposer des mises en nomination au comité.La date limite pour 
les mises en nomination est le 1 mars 2019. Les mises en nomination 
doivent inclure le nom de l'auteur ou de l’auteure, le titre de 
l’ouvrage, de même que les informations relatives à l'éditeur. Les mises
