
Subash Giri
Subash is a Ph.D. student at the Department of Music, University of Alberta, Canada. He has completed a master’s degree in music management from the University of Agder, Norway, M Mus in Hindustani Classical voice, and MA in Sociology from the University of Nepal. He has presented papers in ICTM Study Group Conference Vienna, July 2018; NCOUNTER Graduate Conference University of Alberta, March 2018; Yale Graduate Music Conference Yale University, March 2018.
Trained for years in classical voice, he has more than ten years background in classical music teaching and performance. Currently, he is a voice instructor of Indian Music Ensemble (IME) at the University of Alberta. As a Guest Music Teacher, he taught World Music from 2013-2015 at the University of Agder, Norway and has also served seven years as a college teacher of folk music at Department of Music, Tribhuvan University, Nepal. His main areas of research interest are music sustainability, cultural continuity, music and community wellbeing, music business, music industry.
