This research aims to reveal the elements of significant “dwelling” for the Inuit communities through the pictorial works of its artists, which constitute a window on the Inuit imaginary.An Individual can only “understand oneself” by way of engaging with the environment: this is an identity process leading to dwelling, an intangible thing unfolding within an imagination in perpetual construction. The artistic and architectural forms that result are presented as landmarks in a trip, witnesses of practices and significant knowledge to live. An interpretation of the Inuit pictorial work makes it possible to better understand the dialogue between territory and practices, as well as the manner in which they mutually shape each other and participate in the redefinition of an Inuit dwelling.
