Territorial acknowledgement

We acknowledge that the lands on which we will gather in Tiohtià:ke/Montréal are part of an ancestral territory which has long served as a place of life, meetings, and exchanges between Indigenous peoples, notably the Kanien'kehá:ka nation (sometimes known as Mohawk). We honor, respect, and recognize those nations who have never ceded their rights or sovereign authority over the lands and waters on which we gather.1

In the interest of advancing truth, reconciliation, and justice, we invite you to learn more about the history, resilience, and modern culture of the Kanien’kehá:ka nation, and to explore the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action.
