Erik Loyer’s web and mobile artworks explore social justice and spirituality while combining elements of comics, video games, type animation, and interactive music. Informed by an ethos of instrument-making, Loyer’s practice often includes the development of creative tools for use both by his collaborators and the general public. His work has been commissioned by the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Loyer co-created the scholarly publishing platform Scalar and is a two-time Webby Award Honoree.
