Greg Whistance-Smith (M.Arch) is a scholar and designer. My research is broadly concerned with how design mediates the relationship between technology and culture, and I'm currently a graduate student in Digital Humanities at the University of Alberta. Building on my background in architecture, I'm exploring how videogame environments communicate spatially by engaging structures of embodied cognition (affordances, frames, and metaphor, among others). In addition to my 'traditional' design practice, I’ve been involved in the independent videogames scene as a hobbyist developer since 2007.
