Roslynn earned her BA with honors, double majoring in Sociology and Japanese Studies in National University of Singapore before gaining her MA in Sociology in Hokkaido University. She is currently pursuing PhD in the Department of East Asian Studies in New York University. She volunteered in the 2008 Indigenous Peoples Summit in Ainu Mosir, Hokkaido and assisted in interpretation and translation before, during and after the Summit. More recently, she has been working with the Sapporo Upopo Hozonkai, a traditional Ainu performance group based in Sapporo. She assisted in setting up their homepage and is currently advising the members with its maintenance. She has received grants to University of the Ryukyus and Hokkaido University, giving her an extensive knowledge and lived experience in the peripheries of the Japanese archipelago and their indigenous minorities. Her current research focuses on contemporary Ainu performance groups in an urban context and issues on race and nation in Japan.
