Michele A. Hardy is a cultural anthropologist based at the University of Calgary in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. She is a curator with the university’s Nickle Galleries and teaches Museum and Heritage Studies. Since the early 1990’s, Hardy has conducted ethnographic research in Kutch, India, examining the changes to women’s history and embroidery. Her publications include: Embroidered Relations in Kutch: Women, Stitching and the Third Space (Proceedings of the Textile Society of America, 2013) and 2010 “The Embodied Embroiderer: Crafting Bodies in India’, Cahiers métiers d’art:::Craft Journal, Vol. 4, No. 1.
