The Indigenization Pilot Project of CSSRDS is intended to be a continuation of the projects started 10 years ago to support and accompany First Peoples students in their school career. In accordance with its mission “ … to set up quality educational services to ensure the success of all its students, young people and adults”, the CSSRDS is engaged in a process of developing cultural safety within all its schools, from preschool to adults. The aim is for its establishments to be recognized as warm and welcoming living environments that value Indigenous identity and knowledge. This pilot project is developed through four axes: 1) Support and accompaniment, 2) Awareness raising, 3) Collaboration and partnerships, and 4) Job retention. At the core of all the initiatives in the project areas, the pilot reflects the recommendations of its half-Board Advisory Committee, which is made up of Indigenous partners from different Nations and communities.
