The Indigenous Knowledge and Education Partnership (IKEP) is an international partnership of 7 Indigenous nations (Anicinabek, Atikamekw Nehirowisiwok, Mapuche, Maya, Nahua and P’urepecha) from 3 countries (Canada, Mexico and Chile). The project brings together members of Indigenous organizations working to promote, produce, share, and use Indigenous knowledge in educational approaches within partner communities. The work of the IKEP is part of an approach of decolonization in education, and reaffirmation of Indigenous territorial pedagogy. This approach mainly highlights the relevance of rethinking educational practices and programs based on Indigenous relational epistemology, that is, methods of acquiring, applying, and transmitting knowledge that are carried out through interaction with the territory and the ecological environment. In line with Indigenous territorial pedagogy, knowledge mobilization activities conducted during the IKEP project since 2021 highlight the plurality and complementarity of Indigenous experiences and knowledge within various national contexts. This conference, gathering some members of IKEP, will promote this plurality of Indigenous voices and paths to resistance, decolonization, and the affirmation of Indigenous knowledge and territorial rights. It allows project members to talk about their experiences and highlight the contribution of Indigenous education practices to the success and perseverance of young people in Indigenous communities.
