The goal of this project is to link graduates of the Indigenous Policing Program working in the security sector with current students pursuing the same course of study. The aim is to create a more inclusive educational framework, specifically addressing the needs of the Indigenous student community. The mentoring relationship is essential in this program as it is an emotional, social and spiritual protective factor. It allows the intergenerational transmission of knowledge and experiences by Indigenous police officers from Quebec. This interaction reinforces students’ sense of belonging. It motivates and inspires them, especially during difficult times. This mentoring also helps students to consider their future role as police officers, and to assert their place within this profession.

A mentor will share their matchmaking experience during the session. This intervention will be supported by testimonials from mentees and a PowerPoint visual presentation. We will also introduce various tools and strategies for pragmatic project deployment, which will be showcased to aid in setting up future mentoring programs in other educational institutions.
