Shirley Roburn is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication and Media Studies at York University. She researches the public storytelling strategies Indigenous communities and their civil society allies used to reframe controversies over energy infrastructure development regarding land and water, food, and cultural sovereignty. Her work has focused on campaigns related to the Arctic Refuge and proposed pipelines, ports, and hydro projects in northern and western Canada. She has appeared in peer-reviewed journals,including the International Journal of Communication and the Canadian Journal of Communication.
