Cecilia Järdemar
She/her
Cecilia Järdemar is a senior lecturer in photography and moving image, and the Research Leader for the Fine Art department at Konstfack University. She holds a master and an AHRC-funded PhD in Fine Art Photography from the Royal College of Art. Since 2022, she is a member of the committee for artistic research at the Swedish Research Council. In her art practice she questions both our past and our present condition through a focus on specific historical occurrences and how they have been depicted in photography and film. How can collaborative artistic processes, that include a diversity of voices uncover the counter-histories and alternative narratives contained within the archive? Currently she is the principal investigator in the Swedish Research Council-funded artistic research project Reframing the encounter – From repressed colonial pile to a collaborative decolonial counter-archive.
