Anna Fin
Ph.D in the field of Sociology; Assistant Professor at the Department of Sociology of Culture, Pedagogical University in Krakow, Poland; Visiting Scholar at the CUNY Graduate Center, NYC, USA. A graduate of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, where she finished her master's and doctoral degree. She specializes in the sociology of migration, urban sociology, and the research of the sector of culture and arts. In her scientific work, she deals with contemporary transatlantic migration (with special emphasis on contemporary Polish immigration in the USA), relations between immigrants-based groups as well as on processes of creating and transforming of immigrants neighborhoods and communities. The author of numerous works in the field of sociology of migration and culture as well as the organizer of photographic exhibitions. Member of several national and international scientific associations (among others:Polish-American Historical Ass.; International Sociological Association (RC31); The European Sociological Association). Scholarship holder of the Kosciuszko Foundation , The Shevchenko Scientific Society in America, the niversity of Würzburg, The Lanckoronski Foundation, and the American Fulbright Commission. Currently, she is a Visiting Scholar at the CUNY Graduate Center, where, as a part of the Fulbright Scholarship, she conducts a research project on the development of migration photography and its importance for the study of migration processes.
