Daisy Bailey is a PhD candidate in the School of Media, Film and Journalism at Monash University, Melbourne, Australia. Her doctoral research focuses on the emotions of exile and activism of Chartist and Young Ireland political prisoners transported to the Australian colonies in the nineteenth century and is connected to the ARC Linkage Project, ‘Conviction Politics’, which seeks to re-examine the social, cultural, and political impacts of convicts and the roots of Australian democracy.
