Tomyo Costa Ito

Senior Researcher at the Cinemateca Brasileira, Tomyo Costa Ito has a PhD in Communications at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (Brazil, 2021), with a thesis on the elaboration of memory in the cinema of Rithy Panh. During 2018 and 2019, he participated in a sandwich program, staying in both France and Cambodia. At Université Paris 1, he studied the usage of archival images in historical documentaries under the supervision of Professor Sylvie Lindeperg. And as an associate researcher at the American University of Phnom Penh, he conducted research on the archives at the Bophana Center. He also has a master degree in Communications (dissertation on Abbas Kiarostami's works) from the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (Brazil, 2013).
