Paul Lesch

Biographical note:

Paul Lesch, Ph.D. in communication sciences, was an assistant associate professor at the University of Luxembourg and a lecturer at the Miami University John E. Dolibois European Center, where he taught history and film before becoming director of the audiovisual archive ‘Centre national de l’audiovisuel’ (CNA) in 2016. He is the author, among others, of Heim ins Ufa-Reich? NS-Filmpolitik und die Rezeption deutscher Filme in Luxemburg 1933-1944 (WVT, Trier, 2002); Au nom de l 'ordre public & des bonnesmœurs. Contrôle des cinémas et censure de films au Luxembourg 1895-2005(CNA, 2005) ; Albert Simon, caricaturiste du Escher Tageblatt (Editions Le Phare, Esch-sur-Alzette, 2013), D'Stater Kinoen. Eine Kinogeschichte der Stadt Luxemburg (Editions Guy Binsfeld, 2013), Hitchcock. The Brand (Cinémathèque de la Ville de Luxembourg, 2022). He has also written for international journals such as Film History, Historical Journal of Film, Radio and Television and Cinema & Cie.

Paul Lesch is also the director of a documentary film on the American diplomat Perle Mesta, entitled Call Her Madam (1997) and curator or co-curator of the exhibitions 'Hugo Gernsback- An Amazing Story' (2018);'Ready. Set. Design. Le décor de cinema au Luxembourg (2021) and ‘Hitchcock. The brand. La marque Hitchcock à travers le temps’. Since 2018, he is a member of the Governance Council of the University of Luxembourg.Since 2007 he is council member of IAMHIST.
