Mouloud Boukala

Mouloud Boukala holds a Canada Research Chair in Media, Disability and (Self)Representations (CRCMHA) and is co-director of the Handicap, Deafness and Innovations Laboratory (HSI). His research is  based on media anthropology with a focus on disability and (self)representations of disability in film, television and comics. He also works on the forms of mobility and negotiations of the urban space with the use of digital tools. One of his research projects deals with the perceptions and practices of people with reduced mobility in the city of Montreal, using an eye tracker. Member of the Centre de recherche Cultures Arts Sociétés (CELAT), he is currently the co-director of the journal Frontières and has been President of the Association internationale de recherche scientifique en faveur des personnes handicapées mentales (AIRHM) since 2022.
