Celina Van Dembroucke
Celina Van Dembroucke is a postdoctoral fellow at CELAT- UQÀM and a course lecturer at McGill University. She holds a PhD in Communication Studies from McGill University and a master’s degree in Latin American Studies from the University of Texas at Austin. Prior to coming to North America, she studied communication studies at the Universidad Nacional de Entre Ríos, in Argentina, and worked several years in human rights NGOs. She has worked extensively on issues of photographic representation of people kidnapped by the Argentinean military dictatorship in the 1970s. Her current research deals with media, photography, temporalities of the digital, and the impact of mobile technology in photographic practice and communication.
