Martin Bonnard

Chercheur postdoctoral au département d’histoire de l’art et des études en communication de l’Université McGill et membre du Laboratoire de recherche sur les pratiques audiovisuelles documentaires (labdoc) de l'Université du Québec à Montréal, Martin Bonnard est spécialiste de la diffusion en ligne du cinéma. Sa thèse de doctorat en communication (UQAM) traite de l’actualisation de l’expérience cinéma par les catalogues cinéphiles de vidéo par abonnement.

Il a également développé une pratique de conception de webdocumentaires, notamment en participant aux projets : Up the High Line. New York sous le regard du cinéma (2014), Sur les soins (2020) et Les infirmières de la folie (2022).

Martin Bonnard is an FRQSC Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Art History and Communication Studies at McGill University. His doctoral thesis in communication (Université du Québec à Montréal) deals with the actualization of the cinema experience by cinephile SVOD catalogs. His postdoctoral research, under the supervision of Professor Christine Ross, aims to situate the digital circulation of cinema in the broader history of automation by studying two key moments: the institutionalization of cinema and the advent of television. Interested in the aesthetic and technological aspects of the materiality of moving images, he also works on transmedia documentary storytelling (through the research group labdoc at UQAM) and has contributed to several research web documentaries.
