The aim is to propose a critical reflection on criminal justice regarding violence against Aboriginal women, with the backdrop of the following questions:

- what are aboriginal perspectives on criminal justice in relation to violence against women?

- what do aboriginal legal traditions have to say about violence against women?

- Is it legitimate to consider that the status of Aboriginal women as victims is an aggravating factor in domestic violence? What do we think of the section of the Criminal Code that goes in this direction?

- what does "thinking and acting beyond punishment" means in the context of violence against aboriginal women? Should the singularity of the colonial context and intergenerational traumas be taken into account when (re)thinking punishment?

- do we need to go downstream or beyond punishment when it comes to violence against aboriginal women?

-  does punishment make sense for aboriginal women victims of violence?
