Valérie Harvey

Postdoctoral fellow
Konan University

I am from Québec (Canada), I lived and worked in Japan. I was interested by the status of women in Japan for my master in sociology: how they balance their lives with a challenging labor market. I also studied the impacts of paternity leave for fathers in Quebec for my doctorate and I have done a research about discrimination for women in IT sector. In 2022, I have done a postdoctorate in Japan about paternity leave, as fellow from Japan Foundation. Since 2023, I teach a course about manga and Japanese society in UQO.

I will present results from my postdoctorate at Kōnan University: "Fathers' use of parental leave and the changing image of mothers in Japan" (Saturday, 16h35-18h).
