Territorial transformation: critical reflection on recreational tourism projects in Petite-Rivière-Saint-François
My Session Status
The municipality of Petite-Rivière-Saint-François is the scene of tensions related to the deployment of large-scale recreational tourism projects. The positive impacts expected by various stakeholder groups in favor of this type of development are being called into question. A critical reflection on the transformation of the living environment by tourism in peripheral territories, given its complexity and rapid and still recent exacerbation, remains relevant. The processes of tourism development underway, reflected in the interplay of human and more-than-human mobilities, are helping to re-articulate cohabitation in Petite-Rivière-Saint-François. In my research, I aim to analyze the representations related to the transformation of the living environment by recreational tourism activities in a Quebec context. In this presentation, I propose a critical reflection on the mobilities related to major recreational tourism projects in Petite-Rivière-Saint-François as part of an analysis of territorial transformations and the re-articulation of cohabitation
