Concurrent session 3a : SPECIAL TRACK: BI-POC issues in tourism, travel and mobility
Tourism RESET will be leading a special track: BI-POC issues in tourism, travel, and mobility. Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BI-POC) have endured racial inequalities, segregation and systemic racism for centuries. Globally, travel and tourism has been overpoweringly White-washed, leaving limited room to highlight the experiences and voices of traditionally marginalized groups, the result lending itself to complete invisibility of BI-POC people in the travel sphere. We invite proposals for a special track on BI-POC issues in tourism, travel, and mobility – taking a deeper look into the nexus of marginalized travelers and the representation of BI-POC faces and counter-narratives within a predominantly White-washed touristic landscape.
