Michael A. Di Giovine is Assistant Professor of Anthropology at West Chester University of Pennsylvania and Honorary Fellow in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. A former tour operator, his research in Europe and Southeast Asia focuses on global mobilities (tourism/pilgrimage and immigration), heritage, foodways, and religion. The author of The Heritage-scape: UNESCO, World Heritage, and Tourism (2009), Michael sits on the American Anthropological Association’s Task Force on Cultural Heritage, and is a founding board member of both the Tourism-Contact-Culture research network and the American Anthropological Association’s Anthropology of Tourism Interest Group (of which he currently serves as Program Chair). He has published numerous papers on food and cultural heritage, and has co-edited the volume, Edible Identities: Food as Cultural Heritage with Ronda Brulotte.
