My research focus is on the intersection of economic policy, ideology, and political cutlure in mid-20th century Britain. I have written on the debate about economic planning in the 1930s, the economics of British Fascism, interwar business politics, and the making of the Keynesian Revolution during the Second World War.

Heritage Changes the Local Societies

The session addresses the role of physical walls and boundaries in the construction of separate cultural identities. It is often said that “fences make good neighbors,” but walls and fences also serve to create physical boundaries that both divide communities and leave behind a heritage of new and divergent identities.
