Dr. Zheng Jing is currently Associate Professor in Department of Architecture, Wuhan University in China. She obtained her Bachelor of Architecture in Tianjin University; China; Master of Architecture in McGill University, Canada; and PhD of Architectural History in the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She also worked as a Fulbright Scholar in University of California, Berkeley, and as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Hong Kong Research Grant Council’s “Areas of Excellent” multi-disciplinary major project “The Historical Anthropology of Chinese Society”, as the only scholar from architecture.
Dr. Zheng’s research interest is to study architectural heritage from the perspective of politics, social and cultural impulses, by employing historical anthropology approach. Dr. Zheng’s innovative research on Fujian Tulou challenges the current understanding of its history and convincely provide a panoramic inteprtation of the social history of the unique building form. The research has won her several awards in Canada, USA and HK. She also published her housing researches in academic journals in China, Taiwan, USA and Japan.
