Marta Amico holds a PhD in anthropology and music from the École des hautes études en sciences sociales, Paris. She is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Fondation de la Maison des Sciences de l’Homme, in Paris (Fellowship “Fernand Braudel-IFER outgoing,” [International Fellowships for Experienced Researchers]). Her previous research focused on the making of the Tuareg music label on the World Music scenes and on the festivalization of the nomadic cultures from the Timbuktu region in Mali. She works on the making of Malian musical heritage in a context of armed conflicts, focusing on national dimensions and on images proposed by UNESCO and the World Music.
