Nikita Budkevich
My name is Nikita Budkevich and I am a postgraduate student of the Department of Reconstruction and Restoration of Architectural Heritage and Fundamentals of Architecture at the Kazan State University of Architecture and Engineering. I have studied under the bachelor's program since 2012, I have chosen a topic for research devoted to the use and architectural adaptation of post-industrial objects. The bachelor's degree work was the project "Formation of a technopark in the volume of a former textile factory of the Soviet period, located within the boundaries of the historical settlement of city Astrakhan."
In the master's program I completed the project “Renovation of post-industrial territories in architectural and landscape aspects on the example of the technopolis Khimgrad in Kazan”.
Today, my accumulated experience is used for the purpose of conducting scientific research in graduate school, which is devoted to "Formation of the concept of" Industrial heritage "in the context of the development of architectural theory. As part of my dissertation research, I am doing:
a. identification of the periodization of industrial production in the context of the development of science and technology;
b. identification of the terminology of the concept “Industrial heritage;
c. the formation of the theory of industrial heritage.
Below is a list of some of my publications in Russian scientific journals:
- Budkevich., Balabanova. "Renovation of post-industrial territories in terms of architectural and environmental aspects".
- Budkevich, Balabanova. "Analysis of the experience of renovation and development of post-industrial territories in historical cities".
- Chebinev, Chebineva, Budkevich. "Reconstruction of urban industrial zones".
- Budkevich. "The manifestation of Russian specificity in the formation of the concept of "Industrial Heritage".
- Budkevich. "The interdisciplinary nature of the Industrial Heritage concept".
In Russia today there is an active use of territorial reserves for urban development. This process involves communal storage and former production areas. The downside of this phenomenon is the loss of many industrial heritage sites. The area of my professional interests, formed while still a bachelor, has grown into a scientific research dedicated to rethinking post-industrial spaces, actualizing the use and preservation of industrial heritage sites. As part of the study, I have to identify and systematize the features of adapting the industrial heritage to a new function, as well as develop a methodology for updating historical industrial enterprises.
