Participe à 1 Session

Michael R. Doyle is an assistant professor at the Université Laval School of Architecture in the Faculty of Planning, Architecture, Art and Design. His main research and teaching interests revolve around: an information-theoretic understanding of the person and the milieu; computational techniques of abstraction in the articulation of architectural artefacts, including Big Data and machine-learning; and the interplay of mediacy and immediacy in perception and action in the built environment.

Prior to joining the faculty of the Laval SoA in 2019, Michael worked as a researcher and lecturer at the Department for Architectural Theory and the Philosophy of Technics (ATTP) at the TU Wien in Austria, with whom he published an edited volume Ghosts of Transparency in 2019 (Birkhäuser/deGruyter). His PhD work, which combined philosophy, geology, architecture, urbanism and spatial econometrics was conducted as part of the Deep City Project at the Laboratory for Environmental and Urban Economics (LEURE) at the École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland.
