Biology is at the heart of modern technological breakthroughs that affect fields as diverse as health, genetics, biotechnology, agriculture, forestry and the environment. The Department of Biological Sciences at UQAM is one of the most dynamic departments in Canada, enjoying one of the highest rates of research grants. Most of its researchers are part of leading research teams in ecology, environmental health and toxicology, and biotechnology. At the undergraduate level, the Department offers an innovative pedagogical formula - problem-based learning - which allows better adaptation to professional reality.
