At the crossroads of possibilities: Social innovations against social, environmental and epistemic injustices?

8 April 2021, 8:30 AM - 9 April 2021, 5:30 PM

Montréal, Québec, Canada

The 6th edition of CRISES International Conference focuses on the contribution of social innovations to the fight against social, environmental, and epistemic injustices. Faced with the various crises currently underway (socio-economic, environmental, political, and sanitary), solutions abound. The current situation presents itself as a breeding ground for social innovations with a view to social transformation. However, on closer examination, the scope, modalities and purposes of these social innovations, and desired transformations are very diverse, even antagonistic. Far from facing a clear-cut path towards a new world, we are rather at the crossroads of possibilities. By looking at the actors, organizations, structures, objects, and effects of social innovation, this conference aims to highlight and question, from a critical perspective, the capacity of social innovations to fight against social, environmental, or epistemic injustices in the context of current issues.

This event brings together many local and international academics, students, and practitioners from a variety of disciplines and sectors. It will give rise to new knowledge and stimulating debates on the following themes: 1) socio-ecological transition and social justice, 2) collective ownership/management of the "commons" and social and environmental justice, 3) recognition and revaluation of professions/occupations and the sanitary crisis, 4) care and social and environmental justice, 5) actors of social innovations and public authorities in the context of recomposition of the political space, 6) emancipatory social innovations and trajectories of hybridization, 7) organizations, social movements, ecosystems of social innovations and social and environmental justice, 8) social innovations, digital sovereignty, and collective data governance, 9) co-construction of knowledge, co-production of emancipatory practices and epistemic, social and environmental justice.

Be part of this unmissable event for researchers and actors in the field of social innovation, "at the crossroads of possibilities"!
