UQAM-Geotop

Noble gas laboratory at Geotop is able to analyze stable isotopes of noble gases He, Ne, Ar, Kr and Xe in fluids, fluid inclusions and rocks. The laboratory is actually working onto geothermal resources, groundwater dating, diamonds fluid inclusions, cosmogenic 3He dating. In this presentation we present the techniques are used in this "are" and "noble" discipline for analyzing small amounts of gas extracted from rocks and fluids, their purification from reactive gas, their cryogenic separation and finally their measurement by multi collector noble gas mass spectrometry (Thermo Helix MC plus).
