Life Stories in a Changing World :
At the Crossroads of Research, Education and Intervention

International Bilingual Conference (English | French) in Montreal (UQAM)

From a historic perspective, this conference will

  • mark the heritage of the Chicago School and the unique features of French practices
  • draw a portrait of the great diversity of current and emerging practices (such as narrative approaches)
  • encourage a critical stance toward all (auto)biographical practices

The practice of life stories

  • raises the question of the subject confronting identity-related issues and recognition issues, that of the social actor (agency)and that of the collectives to which the individual belongs
  • sheds light on a great diversity of social life areas and the radical transformations of this Late Modern Age

Thus, as life stories practitioners, does it not become crucial to review our own practices and postures with a reflexivity stance, in order for all of us to contribute to the future of a better world?
