Presenting at the conference


The following checklist summarizes important information for presenters. Please contact us at linguistique.50ansuqam@gmail.com if you have any questions.

Before the session(see the program)

  1. Register to the conference (mandatory and free) at

    https://sites.grenadine.uqam.ca/sites/linguistique/en/50ansdelinguistique

  2. Make sure you have the Zoom link to your session. The session links are accessible through the program (“Session Zoom”) and will alsobe sent to you by email a couple of days before the conference.

  3. Familiarize yourself with Zoom. If you have any questions regarding the use of Zoom, you can consult the help page: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us

15 minutes before the start of the session

  1. Access the Zoom meeting. The Technical Assistant will let you in from the waiting room 15 minutes before the start of the session.

  2. You should be listed as "co-host".

  3. Verify that screen sharing is turned on and functional. Activate audio share and

    optimization for video sharing if necessary.

  4. Advise the session chair of your timekeeping preferences.

  5. If there’s anything ask the Technical Assistant.

During the talk

  1. Well, talk!

  2. The chat function will be disabled during your presentation to prevent unwanted

    distractions, questions will have to wait to the Q&A.

During the Q&A

  1. The session chair will keep track of questions:
    a) Participants who wrote “I have a question” or a variant of it will be invited to speak. b) Written questions will be read by the session chair (or yourself).

  2. Collaborate with the chair on moderating questions. Look for questions in the chat.
