Martha Black is a PhD student in Hispanic Studies at Western University and specializes in adult L2 acquisition in the instructed context as well as the pedagogical implications of language acquisition theories. She holds a master’s degree in foreign language pedagogy from the University of Delaware and has taught languages in post-secondary education since 2011. Her most recent research examines a pedagogical application of the Bilingual Language Profile questionnaire (Birdsong et al., 2012), the perception of similar sounds between English and Spanish among late bilinguals, and the role of metacognition in the interpretation and production of grammatical gender in L2 Spanish.
