Bojana Videkanic holds a PhD in visual culture and theory from York University, she teaches in the Visual Culture program at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada. Her research explores connections between art, various modes of visual representation, and politics. Specializing in the history of Yugoslav visual art and state identity, she is currently writing a book examining Yugoslav Non-aligned socialist modernism. Her other research concerns alternative modernism and modernity in Canadian 20th-century art. Her current SSHRC-sponsored research is looking into the history of the Guild of all Arts (in Scarborough) and its architectural and aesthetic contexts.
