Life History and sociocultural diversity : social political, ethical and epistemological issues

What is the specific contribution of life history practices regarding gender issues? On the migration and refugee itineraries, in Quebec or elsewhere?On intergenerational relationships? On the long history of populations dominated in colonization or war movements, such as the indigenous peoples of North and South America? The practice of life stories involving social groups that offer marked cultural differences in their journey (migrants, Indigenous groups, young people, the elderly, genders) raises questions that highlight the importance of socio-political analysis, the search for collective and individual identities, and the ethical project.. Several conceptual frameworks can shed light on these issues: intersectionality, decolonization, cultural appropriation, relations of domination and oppression, racism and discrimination, in a context of increasing globalization. In order to produce an emancipatory and consciousness raising movement, an (auto) biographical process is then to be seen and based not only on self narratives but also on exchange and co-construction of knowledge.
