Yiping Zhang is a Ph.D. candidate based in Ghent, Belgium. From October 2019 he has been working as a doctoral researcher in the Faculty of Architecture, KU Leuven. His current project is through a critical socio-spatial analysis to understand the historical collectivism and present collective spaces in Workers’ Villages in post-industrial Northeast China. Yiping’s research interest mainly lies in collective spaces, industrial heritage, architectural and urban planning history, and community regeneration.
