Étienne Gariépy-Girouard est étudiant à la maîtrise en géographie à l’Université du Québec à Rimouski (UQAR), au sein du Laboratoire de géomorphologie et dynamique fluviale (LGDF). Il est spécialisé en ydrogéomorphologie et gestion des cours d'eau, en géographie de l'environnement et en géographie historique. Il s’intéresse actuellement aux enjeux sociaux, politiques et économiques de la restauration des cours d’eau, dans une perspective d’intégration des principes de l’hydrogéomorphologie à l’intérieur des cadres réglementaires entourant leur gestion au Québec.
